TIER 1 - Judge Development Day
Judge Development Training Day
This is a 7hr Tier 1 Judge Development Training Day Workshop for existing Tier 1 Judges to meet, discuss, set-up, experiment, swap ideas and recreate trial day issues that can challenge even the most experienced Judge!!
Suitable for existing Judges who are setting tests in Scentwork UK trials, Levels 1-4 and SWUK trainers can utilise this workshop as CPD.
Please bring your dog to this workshop if possible. (It is not essential to do so but it always helps when we have a variety of dogs to play with when participating in workshops of this type.)
Be prepared for your dog to rest in your vehicle altho be assured there will be plenty of practical activities.
Are you sure the search areas you set up are level appropriate? Can you deal with unusual situations and are you able to diffuse and manage conflict?
Development Day Workshops will likely be different every time as you, the current Judge, will bring content to the table as we pick each others brains, discuss fresh ideas and the setting of appropriate tests for the levels to be judged. Most importantly we will see how other judges tackle challenges with competing teams fairly and with empathy.
You will leave this 7 hour workshop more confident in choosing hides to place target odour, what odour to choose, recognising areas of difficulty and feeling confident applying appropriate deductions & more capable of identifying potential reasons for wrong alerts and the failings of competing teams.

SCENTWORK - Patterning Workshop
Suitable for trainers, competing teams, or teams that do scent as a hobby. SWUK trainers can utilise workshops as CPD. This innovative workshop will equip you with tools and confidence to move forward effectively, whether you are sniffing for fun or of course, in your chosen trial.
Please bring rewards that your dog values, this may be toys or food.
Be prepared for your dog to rest in your vehicle altho be assured there will be plenty of practical activities.
Are you ready to tackle your search areas in a logical fashion?
Approaching searches with a pattern in mind can help your dog to systematically search a given area thus being more economical with energy, improving search time & giving a better chance for you to confidently ‘find all’ or call ‘all clear’.
This 4 hour workshop will give you & your teammate the opportunity to practice simple patterns, recognise areas of difficulty & identify what your dog may be missing, giving you the confidence to search effectively & have better coverage. With practice your dog will efficiently deal with larger & more complicated areas with improved independence. This will prevent you over handling & allow you to really see the picture instead of impairing it.
It’s time to compliment our dogs expertise by considerate handling & developing systematic searching… Any questions, please get in touch…
